She also shared a photo of signed boxing gloves from Martin, thanking her for portraying the iconic figure.
Christy Martin, known as ‘The Coal Miner’s Daughter,’ made history as one of the first women to gain mainstream recognition in boxing during the 1990s. With an impressive record and historic bouts, including one on a Mike Tyson undercard, Martin helped legitimize women’s boxing. She also survived a brutal attack from her ex-husband in 2010 and now serves as a motivational speaker and boxing promoter.
