Russian forces launched multiple missiles, potentially including an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), from the Astrakhan region in a Thursday morning attack on Ukraine. Ukraine’s Air Force announced via Telegram that it successfully intercepted six Kh-101 cruise missiles using anti-aircraft defenses.
The attack struck critical infrastructure in Dnipro, a central-eastern Ukrainian city, according to Ukrainian officials. This escalation follows Ukraine’s historic use of American-supplied long-range missiles against Russian territory on Tuesday—marking the first time in 1,000 days of war—with President Biden’s approval granted just days earlier.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported yet. If confirmed, the use of an ICBM would represent a significant intensification of the conflict and the weapon’s first deployment in this war.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
