Republicans outraged as President Joe Biden pardons son Hunter Biden

Republicans erupted in outrage following President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, citing allegations of hypocrisy and selective justice. Prominent GOP figures, including former President Donald Trump and lawmakers like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Sen. Chuck Grassley, sharply condemned the move, labeling it an abuse of presidential power.

Trump reacted on Truth Social, questioning if Biden’s pardon extended to individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riot. Greene accused Biden of double standards, while Rep. James Comer suggested the pardon was a tactic to avoid accountability for alleged family corruption.

Some Democrats, including Gov. Jared Polis and Rep. Greg Stanton, also expressed disappointment, arguing that the pardon set a troubling precedent. Biden defended his decision, claiming Hunter was unfairly targeted due to his familial ties. Hunter Biden had faced federal charges for tax evasion and gun-related offenses, pleading guilty to the former while being convicted of the latter.

Despite bipartisan criticism, Biden maintained that his son was a victim of selective prosecution, asserting his clemency decision was rooted in justice rather than favoritism.
