Melbourne Storm’s rising star Shawn Blore has pleaded not guilty to charges of affray following an alleged incident in Sydney’s CBD. The 24-year-old NRL player was represented by his lawyer, Eugene Renard, at the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, where a not guilty plea was entered on Blore’s behalf. Blore was excused from attending the court proceedings.
The incident in question reportedly occurred between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on July 8 in the Sydney CBD. Blore was subsequently arrested and released on bail with conditions, including a prohibition against committing any further offenses and consuming alcohol in public.
Shawn Blore is not the only one facing charges related to the incident; his brother, Dean Blore, 25, who was once a promising young playmaker for the Penrith Panthers, was also charged. Dean Blore appeared in court dressed in a white shirt and grey pants, where he also entered a not guilty plea. Both brothers will return to court on October 16.
Shawn Blore, who started his NRL career with the Wests Tigers, has been in exceptional form since joining the Melbourne Storm this year. Under the guidance of coach Craig Bellamy, Blore has become a key player in Melbourne’s push for the minor premiership. Blore is among several Storm players who have been rested for the upcoming match against North Queensland in Townsville on Thursday night.
