LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The third-ranked Nebraska volleyball team is hosting an NCAA Regional at the Bob Devaney Sports Center for the second consecutive year. The Huskers currently lead No. 23 Dayton in the third set, 1-0 (25-17, 25-18, 20-20).
Courtney Lyle, Holly McPeak, Katie George, and Madison Fitzpatrick are calling the action for TV broadcasts, with all matches available on WatchESPN. Nebraska (31-2) claimed its 36th all-time conference title and fifth Big Ten title with a 19-1 record in conference play this season. This marks the Huskers’ second consecutive Big Ten championship sweep, following back-to-back wins in 2016 and 2017.
The Huskers advanced to their 13th straight NCAA Regional after dominating Florida A&M and Miami last weekend, hitting a combined .341 while limiting opponents to a mere .010 hitting percentage. Their 29 regular-season victories matched the 1983 school record for the most wins in the NCAA era.
Nebraska achieved a remarkable 25-match win streak following a Sept. 3 loss at SMU, with 20 of those wins being sweeps. The streak ended on Nov. 29 in a 3-1 loss to No. 4 Penn State. This season, Nebraska went 7-1 against top-10 teams, the most top-10 wins in a regular season in school history.
With an 11-1 record against ranked opponents this season, the Huskers are making their 40th NCAA Regional appearance, the most in NCAA history, and their 13th in a row. Nebraska boasts a 132-37 all-time record in NCAA Tournament matches, ranking second in postseason wins and winning percentage (.781).
At home, the Huskers have been unstoppable, winning 24 straight NCAA Tournament matches at the Devaney Center since 2013. Their 43 consecutive home wins, dating back to Dec. 1, 2022, is the nation’s longest active home winning streak.
