After four years of marriage and countless TikTok videos together, Nashville comedian Danae Hays and her wife, online fashion influencer Mandie Kaii, announced their separation on Friday, August 30.
“We are both deeply saddened to share that we have decided to go our separate ways,” they wrote in a brief statement posted on both TikTok and Instagram.
Hays, 31, gained popularity with her humorous videos highlighting her Southern upbringing in Alabama, amassing over 3 million TikTok followers. Earlier this year, she began touring comedy clubs and theaters in the South and Midwest.
Her videos frequently featured her wife, often showcasing exaggerated versions of themselves—Hays as the more redneck Southern character and Kaii as the girly Californian.
“This decision did not come easily, as we both have so much love and respect for one another,” their statement read. “But it is truly what is best for both of us.” Hays has not yet responded to a request for comment. The couple, both college softball stars, first connected through Instagram messages in 2016.
