The rookie trading card market just heated up, and the Pittsburgh Pirates are eager to join in. The team made an enticing offer for a rare Paul Skenes rookie card, recently released by Topps. The card features a patch from Skenes’ jersey and his autograph.
In a unique twist, the Pirates proposed a trade to the MLB fan who found the card. Their offer includes two season tickets behind home plate at PNC Park for 30 years, a softball game on the field with coaching from team alumni, a meet-and-greet with Skenes, and two signed jerseys.
Adding to the excitement, Skenes’ girlfriend, LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, sweetened the deal further. She posted on X, saying, “The person who finds the card can sit with me in my suite at a Pirates game.”
Skenes, who made his MLB debut in May, had an outstanding rookie season. Named the National League’s All-Star Game starting pitcher after just 11 starts, he finished the season 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA in 23 games. This rare rookie card could become a valuable collectible in the years ahead.
