Former Minnesota WR Tyler Johnson Records Longest NFL Reception Against Detroit Lions

Former Minnesota Golden Gophers wide receiver Tyler Johnson made a notable play in his young NFL career on Sunday night against the Detroit Lions. Now with the Los Angeles Rams, Johnson caught a drag route from quarterback Matthew Stafford, then accelerated upfield for a 63-yard gain.

Johnson, who joined the Rams in May 2023 and was re-signed this spring, had a brief stint with Los Angeles last year, recording two catches for 8 yards and a touchdown in one game. He also spent time with the Houston Texans in 2022 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played in the Super Bowl during his rookie season in 2020 after being drafted in the fifth round.

A standout at the University of Minnesota from 2016-2019, Johnson totaled 199 receptions for 3,094 yards and 30 touchdowns in 47 games.
