Excitement is surging across Minnesota as the Lynx prepare to potentially eliminate the Phoenix Mercury in Game Two of their best-of-three WNBA playoff series on Wednesday. The Lynx, who secured the Number 2 seed in the Western Conference, are just one win away from advancing to the semi-finals, where they could face either the Connecticut Sun or Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever.
Downtown Minneapolis has embraced playoff fever, with new street signs featuring the Lynx logo displayed throughout the area. Mayor Jacob Frey even joined city workers early Wednesday morning to help paint the sidewalk outside Target Center in celebration of the team.
The game, set to tip off at 8:30 p.m. at Target Center, has tickets still available starting at around $30, with courtside options going for $300. Each fan attending will receive a Lynx rally towel to help energize the home crowd.
Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve expressed her appreciation for the team’s supporters: “We have such a great fan base. Our business staff does such a great job in dressing the house, getting it like it looks, and fans do a great job to get it to sound like it sounds. I think it’s really fun for our players.”
A win on Wednesday would send the Lynx into the next round and keep their championship hopes alive. Fans and the city are rallying behind the team as they strive to continue their playoff journey.
