The children of Sean “Diddy” Combs have publicly addressed the false rumors surrounding their late mother, Kim Porter, and her alleged involvement in a tell-all book. In a statement shared on Instagram by 33-year-old Quincy Brown, Porter’s eldest son, the family expressed their frustration over the hurtful rumors regarding Porter’s relationship with Diddy and the circumstances of her tragic passing in 2018.
“We have seen so many hurtful and false rumors circulating about our parents, Kim Porter and Sean Combs’ relationship, as well as about our mom’s tragic passing, that we feel the need to speak out,” Quincy stated on behalf of himself and his siblings Christian, 26, and 17-year-old twins Jessie and D’Lila. Diddy, who adopted Quincy as his own, shares three biological children with Porter.
Kim Porter, who passed away from lobar pneumonia, has been the subject of conspiracy theories and rumors ever since her untimely death. These rumors escalated earlier this month when a self-published book, KIM’S LOST WORDS: A Journey for Justice, from the Other Side…, claimed to be Porter’s memoir and included allegations of abuse by Diddy, even suggesting foul play in her death.
The book was written by Chris Todd, who claims to have solved numerous high-profile murder cases, but Todd himself admitted that he cannot confirm whether the memoir is legitimate. “If somebody put my feet to the fire and they said, ‘Life or death, is that book real?’ I have to say I don’t know. But it’s real enough to me,” Todd said in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Quincy’s statement refuted these claims outright, asserting that the notion of their mother writing a memoir is entirely false. He stressed that anyone claiming to possess a manuscript from Porter is misrepresenting the truth. “Additionally, please understand that any so-called ‘friend’ speaking on behalf of our mom or her family is not a friend, nor do they have her best interests at heart,” Quincy said.
The statement also highlighted the emotional impact of Porter’s death on the family, who continue to struggle with their loss. “She was our world, and nothing has been the same since she passed. While it has been incredibly difficult to reconcile how she could be taken from us too soon, the cause of her death has long been established. There was no foul play.”
Quincy concluded by asking for privacy and respect as the family continues to grieve, urging the public to remember Porter for the remarkable woman she was rather than for the baseless conspiracy theories that have followed her death. “Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind, and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories,” he said.
Diddy’s attorney also called the book “fake,” describing it as an offensive and opportunistic attempt to exploit the family’s pain. Diddy, who has remained in custody following his September 16 arrest on charges of sex trafficking and other allegations, has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
The latest allegations against Diddy include a lawsuit from Thalia Graves, who has accused him and his former head of security of sexual assault in 2001. Meanwhile, the family is asking for peace as they deal with both the legal battles and ongoing speculation surrounding Porter’s death.
