Canada’s GST/HST Credit is set for a boost in 2025, offering extra cash to help offset rising costs. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has announced a 2.7% increase in benefit amounts, tied to inflation adjustments based on the consumer price index.
The GST/HST Credit, a tax-free quarterly payment for low- and modest-income Canadians, will see higher payouts next year. Individuals will receive a maximum of $349 (up from $340), while families can expect $184 more per child and $698 for couples. A family of four could earn up to $1,066 annually, equating to $266.50 per quarter.
Income thresholds are also increasing. For singles, the phase-in threshold rises to $11,337, with the credit phasing out at $45,521 for families, up from $44,324. These updates will apply to payments beginning July 2025, based on 2024 tax returns.
