Bay Area prepares for freezing temperatures and king tides this weekend.

King tides and freezing temperatures are set to impact the Bay Area this weekend. The National Weather Service warns that areas along the Central and Northern California coasts will experience frost and freezing conditions late Friday night into Saturday morning. Temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 20s and lower 30s, which could pose risks to unsheltered people, outdoor pets, plants, and pipes.

Sub-freezing temperatures are forecast for regions like San Benito County, the North Bay interior valleys, and Cholame Hills in Monterey County. In Sonoma, temperatures could reach as low as 35°F. A frost advisory has been issued for Del Norte, Humboldt, and the Mendocino Coast.

Residents can prepare by bringing plants and pets indoors and wrapping or draining pipes to prevent freezing. Meteorologist Karleisa Rogacheski advises the “four P’s” approach: protect people, plants, pipes, and pets. It’s also important to check on friends, family, and neighbors during this cold weather.
