The 98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade: Highlights, Performances, and New Floats

Iconic Event Returns with a Star-Studded Lineup
Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, and Hoda Kotb are back to host the 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, showcasing dazzling floats, iconic balloons, and performances from top musical artists.

This Year’s Parade Features:

  • 5,000 Volunteers
  • 17 Character Balloons
  • 22 Floats
  • 15 Heritage and Novelty Balloons
  • 11 Marching Bands
  • 10 Performance Groups
  • Star Performers

The streets of Manhattan will come alive under the trio’s hosting, even as they hope to dodge potential rain during the celebration.

A Secret Co-Host Signal Tradition
Hoda Kotb revealed her annual parade signal for Jenna Bush Hager, inspired this year by a gesture from “RockaFellaCenta” by Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. This bittersweet tradition marks Hoda’s last Thanksgiving parade before her departure from TODAY in January 2025.

The Iconic Tom Turkey Float
The parade officially kicks off with Tom Turkey, the longest-running float since its debut in 1973. Last year, Hoda experienced riding Tom Turkey for the first time, calling it “amazing” and sharing her excitement at seeing the city from a unique perspective.

Exciting New Floats
Six new floats debut this year, including:

  • Haribo’s Candy Cosmos with its signature gummy bear mascot and a rocket ship.
  • Rao’s Pasta Knight featuring a fire-breathing dragon.
  • The Bronx Zoo’s Wondrous World of Wildlife showcasing life-size replicas of exotic animals.
  • Other additions include Dora’s Fantastical Rainforest, Magic Meets the Seas by Disney Cruise Line, and Netflix’s Masterfeast.

Star Performances
This year’s lineup includes Jennifer Hudson, Kylie Minogue, Billy Porter, T-Pain, Idina Menzel, Dan + Shay, and more. Broadway performances from “Death Becomes Her,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” and “The Outsiders” will add theatrical flair, alongside the Radio City Rockettes.

Actor Alison Brie will cut the ribbon to open the festivities, while appearances by Cynthia Erivo, The Temptations, and WNBA champions New York Liberty promise to make the event unforgettable.

Prepare for a day of celebration, music, and timeless Thanksgiving magic!
